International Alternative Networks
Global alternative communication networks are expanding and growing. Its strength is due to the collaboration of social movement organizing campaigns as well as media reform campaigns that adapt information and communications to the benefit of all. These networks are diverse in terms of their location the type of content and their focus, but they are all joined by a non-commercial ethos and an opposition to imperialist power systems. International alternative networks encompass individuals and non-profit organizations, as well as local sites that promote democratic reforms to information and communication reforms. They also create new communication infrastructures to help local connections regional and global developments in relation to social movements. They also build a lattice system of transnational, local-local (especially south-south) regional and global links that evade imperial dynamics north-south.
In the early 1990s, a range of new media tasks started to appear around the world. They utilized the newly-available alternative media channels to corporate productions to spread their message on consumer development and empowerment of communities. Initially they were local, but then merged and linked network of financial institutions around the national and regional boundaries to create a broader range of media options for all.
Unlike the traditional communications infrastructure which relies on huge capital investment the alternatives employ volunteers to help them. In turn, they are able to provide lower prices and more flexible packages to customers. They can also implement infrastructure more quickly, allowing the faster deployment of 5G technology and a larger expansion of coverage areas. This can help businesses to compete more effectively in the marketplace, and ensure that their customers are able to access the latest technology without delay.
